Improving the green environment & creating a community hub

About The Friends of Barnsbury Square Gardens

The Friends of Barnsbury Square Gardens are a team of volunteers made up of local residents.  We work alongside the Environment and Regeneration teams in Islington Council to improve and maintain the green environment of the square, and to create a community hub where people of all ages feel welcome.  Having new volunteers is always a fantastic help!

The Friends of Barnsbury Square Gardens have a small committee, and that enables us to apply for grants, funding, and permits to hold events etc.  We’ve successfully applied for grants to renovate the hut kitchen, for planting, soil, and fencing. We host school visits, seasonal parties for the local community, artist-in-residence visits,  corporate volunteer sessions, and we get Barnsbury Square Gardens included in London-wide events.  We’re also running a free book swap – the bookcase is on the hut wall.

Contact: friendsofbsg@aol.com or look on notice boards in and around the square or on website pages for details of gardening sessions etc.  If you’d like to donate to FOBSG, check out our GoFundMe page.
